The Crook Family, Crook Dairy – Humboldt, Nebraska

Crook Dairy is a family farm located near Humboldt, Neb. As all Roberts Dairy farmers, the Crooks are committed to raising healthy cows that produce pure, wholesome milk. An award-winning milk producer, David Crook is always looking into what he can do to better his cow’s health, leading to lower vet bills. This means healthy cows, thus a better quality of milk and better Roberts Dairy products.

David carefully monitors the nutrition his cows receive and strives to be a good steward of the earth. His cows’ feed uses minerals and salt that were mined out of the mountains which are more natural than regular salt that’s often processed in a chemical wash. He found this feed gives his herd optimal health.

The Crooks know a balanced diet is good not only for their animals, but for themselves as well. You’ll find vegetables, baked potatoes and dairy products such as cheese popular items served at the dinner table.

The Crook farm is a family operation. David’s brother Charles runs the grain production while David maintains the dairy. David’s wife Nancy works at the bank in town during the day and helps milk the cows at night. Their son, Eric, is a radiology tech at a local hospital during the day but also helps on the farm at night and during the weekends. Running a farm is labor intensive, as you might imagine, but Crook Dairy has excellent help, making this 100-cow farm a well-run operation.
